The Surf Overview: Tamarindo is centrally located on the coast to offer easy access to a wide variety of surf breaks for all abilities including beach breaks, river mouths and nearby reef breaks. There are several breaks in town including the river mouth of Tamarindo and the more challenging break at Langosta. However, the real attraction of Tamarindo is its central location between the world-famous break of Playa Negra (15 crow miles south) and Witches Rock (40 crow miles north). Logistically, Tamarindo provides the easiest place to explore the most surf in the shortest time.

Non Surf Activities: Tamarindo is a full service community with a variety of restaurants & cafés, shops, galleries and markets. Their record catches of marlin, sailfish, giant tuna and other species are legendary, with numerous outfits for deep blue water, reef or shoreline fishing. There are also plenty of scuba diving and snorkeling trips, ocean and river kayaking and wind surfing. Visit nearby wildlife refuges such as Diria, the Marino Las Baulas National Park, and the thousand-acre Tamarindo National Wildlife Refuge which offers numerous hiking trails through forests and mangroves. Golfers can enjoy two championship courses locally, one at Paradisus Conchal and another at Hacienda Pinilla.
